Minor Arunachal girl rescued in Rajasthan, 1 held
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Police have rescued a 15-year-old girl, who was missing from Itanagar since Dec 27 last year. She was found in a district of Rajasthan.A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly luring her into a relationship through social media and establishing a physical relationship with her, police said.Capital SP Jummar Basar said on Sunday a missing report was received at a women police station (WPS) in Itanagar on Dec 30. This led to the registration of a case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Under the supervision of SDPO Itanagar Chera Saban and WPS officer-in-charge inspector Sonam Rina, a police team led by sub-inspector Bamang Yakum traced and rescued the minor from Rajasthan using human and technical intelligence, Basar said.The girl’s statement revealed that the accused had befriended her on social media, the SP said. The accused was arrested in Rajasthan with the help of local police on Thursday. He was produced before a special Pocso court and granted transit remand on Saturday to be brought to Arunachal Pradesh, he said.The girl has been provided medical care and placed in a shelter home, Basar added.
